April Buchman

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - April Susanna Marie Buchman, a beloved homemaker known for her sweet and funny spirit, passed away peacefully on Friday March 27, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on April 24, 1969, in Chestertown, Maryland, April lived a life marked by generosity, toughness, and a radiant presence that truly lit up every room she entered.

One of April’s proudest accomplishments was her membership at Bear Creek Baptist Church, where her talent as a singer touched the hearts of many; she frequently shared her gift of song during services. Her dedication to her faith community was a hallmark of her life, reflecting the warmth and kindness that defined her.

Aside from her commitment to her church, April had a deep love for quilting and sewing, a craft she cherished and delighted in sharing, notably teaching her daughter-in-law, Opal, the art of sewing. Her enthusiasm for such pursuits was emblematic of her nurturing nature and her joy in creating bonds through shared activities. Those who knew her fondly recall her as a notorious back-seat driver and someone who actually enjoyed mowing grass-small glimpses into her unique character and spirited approach to everyday life.

April was the devoted wife of Bill Buchman, whom she married on April 18, 1987. Together, they shared 38 years of marriage filled with love and partnership. She is also survived by her son, Donnie Buchman, and his wife, Opal; her daughters, Kimberly Buchman and Jazmine White; her parents, Charles and Lana Waddell; her brother, Mark Waddell; her sister, Lisa Wagner and her husband, Dan and her father and mother -in-law, Don and Judy Buchman; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Amy, Kayla, and Elijah.

A funeral service honoring April will be at 12 p.m. Thursday April 2 at Bear Creek Baptist Church. Bro. Danny Hembree will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the church. She will be laid to rest at Bear Creek Cemetery.

April Buchman’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy found in both grand and simple moments. Her memory will remain a treasured blessing to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
