Bailey Goolsby

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Bailey Goolsby, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on November 7, 2025, at his residence in Baxter, Tennessee. Born on December 29, 1935, in Bloomington Springs, Tennessee, Bailey was a man who embodied the values of hard work, dedication, and love for family.

He dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career, working at RC Cola and Dixie Furniture before joining Collins Manufacturing, where he ultimately retired. Bailey's work ethic was a reflection of his character; he approached every task with a sense of responsibility and commitment.

Known for his quiet demeanor, Bailey treasured his family above all. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from exploring the great outdoors to caring for his beloved mules. A down-to-earth individual, he had a passion for gardening in his youth, where he nurtured tobacco and raised chickens, creating a fulfilling rural life that reflected his love of nature.

Bailey is survived by his devoted wife, Willene Flatt Goolsby; daughter, Rhonda Jackson; son, Jeff Goolsby; and sister, Brenda (Paul) Flatt. He leaves behind cherished memories to his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Bessie Petty Goolsby; as well as his brothers, Cecil Goolsby and Paul Goolsby; and sisters, Polly Ann Jackson, Reba Joyce Hoyse, Mary Belle Goolsby, Helen Marie Stewart, and Jessie Mae Chance; and his two precious granddaughters, Tara Renee Hunter and Cassidy Chalee Madison Jackson.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Goolsby will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Sam Flatt Cemetery in Jackson County with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

We will miss him always and forever. He can now be with his mom and dad, brothers, sisters, and his granddaughters. They will be so glad to see him. He is free from all the suffering and we will see him soon.
