COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Barbara Jean Adams Cooper passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, June 2,2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on June 29, 1945, in Lynch, Kentucky. At the age of 18, she started a new adventure and moved to Indiana. While there, she met the love of her life, Robert. She would spend almost 40 years as his loving wife. In the mid 1980s, they moved to Cookeville, Tennessee where Barbara was a dedicated employee at Cookeville Regional Medical Center where she worked for over 20 years in the dietary department.
Barbara was most proud of her family and was always ready to brag about each of them. She loved to bake and there was always a sweet treat for anyone who came to visit. If she was not in the kitchen baking, you would find her reading a book or sewing. Her smile could light up a room and she was always happy to see you. Praise and worship music and the word of God filled her home. She opened her home to many in need from preachers to college students; she had a servant's heart.
Barbara was a woman of faith, attending First United Pentecostal Church in Cookeville, Tennessee where she was a faithful member for over 42 years. Her love of God was seen and felt by everyone who knew her. She was a mighty prayer warrior and a faithful servant.
Barbara is survived by her children Michelle Smith (Mark), Cynthia Parker (Mickey), her grandchildren, who adored her and called her Nana, Mikaela Whitten (Austin), Austin Smith (Bethany), Colton Smith, Landon Smith, Bella Grace Parker, Binx Parker, Bennett Parker and her great grandchildren Jace Smith and Wesley Smith. She is also survived by her sister Gertrude Tallent of Indiana. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Andy and Alta Adams, brothers Ray, Earl, Ellis, sisters Gearldine and Madge and her loving husband Robert Cooper.
Funeral services for Barbara Cooper, age 79, will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 am in the First United Pentecostal Church. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again Saturday from 9:00am until time of service at the church.
