Barbara Loomis

DYER CHAPEL - Funeral services for Barbara J. Loomis, age 82 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dyer Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. Chris Blair will officiate.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the Dyer Chapel.

Barbara passed away peacefully at her residence on December 5, 2025. Born on March 21, 1943, in Litchfield, Connecticut, she lived her life with an abundance of love, warmth, and kindness, a true testament to her sweet personality.

Barbara worked as a cook at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, where her nurturing spirit resonated with everyone who had the pleasure of working alongside her. Her devotion to family was unwavering; she enjoyed traveling each year to visit her beloved relatives in Connecticut, treasuring those moments that brought her so much happiness.

An enthusiastic participant in life’s simple pleasures, Barbara found joy in immersing herself in word search puzzles, which were a favorite pastime. Her laughter and light-heartedness made time spent at home a joyful experience, and everyone who knew her felt her loving embrace through her actions and words.

Her legacy is carried on by her loving sons, Cliff Loomis and wife, Kristine, and Stanley Ouimette and wife, Maritza; her devoted daughter, Cathy Hale and husband, Chris; as well as her ten grandchildren: Tyler, Caitlyn, Justin, Brooklyn, Brittany, Tyson, Crystal, Amberly, Jade, Kaitlyn, and Ashley. Barbara also leaves behind nineteen great-grandchildren, a testament to the wonderful family she nurtured throughout her life.

She is also survived by her brothers, Donald Ouimette and Raymond Ouimette, and her sisters, June Bassett, Nancy Maxim, Diane DiNapoli, and Kathy Veech, all of whom cherish her memory.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Ouimette and Lucille Smith Ouimette; her husband, Clifford "Barry" Loomis, II; her brothers, Stanly Ouimette, Jr. and Philip Ouimette; and her sister, Joyce Waicumas.
