COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Barton Elliott Taylor, age 71, passed away peacefully at home in Cookeville, Tennessee on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, after a prolonged illness.
Bart was born on November 29, 1955, in Casper, Wyoming to Herbert John Taylor and UlaRae Jensen Taylor. The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, about 1960, moving to Anchorage, Alaska, in March 1970, where he attended West Anchorage High School and worked for many years in construction and as an electrician, before returning to Arizona in 1983. Eventually, he moved back north with family to live in North Pole, Alaska, enjoying the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating and golf. Once his family was grown, he and his wife Mary “Lynn” moved first to central Texas to enjoy warmer climates and be near family. Another move in August of 2025 took him to the green hills of Tennessee to a new home he cherished for the last months of his life. His wife Lynn shared these adventures with him, establishing their new home and spending time with children and grandchildren.
Bart was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lynn Taylor, son Dirk Taylor (Melody) of Alaska, daughter Michelle Thaxton (Drew) of Tennessee, and granddaughters Emmalynn and Elizabeth, as well as children from his first marriage, son Anthony Taylor of Florida and daughter Tammy Thorson Hoefer of Missouri. He is also survived by his sister Sylvia Ann Taylor Johnson (Tony) and brother Martin Jensen Taylor (Brigitt) of Arizona.
No services will be held, as requested by Bart, but family will gather to inter his ashes, enjoy time together and share tales of his dry sense of humor.
Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111. You may share your thoughts and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
