Bettie Maxwell Deluca

July 18, 1938 — August 21, 2024

BAXTER CHAPEL-Bettie Maxwell DeLuca, a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at the age of 86 in Cookeville, TN. Born on July 18, 1938, in Baxter, TN, Bettie lived a life marked by dedication to her family, a passion for her work, and a love for the simple joys in life.

Bettie was the beloved daughter of the late Clifford Ralph and Agnes Elise Martin Maxwell. Her early years in Baxter were filled with the warmth of a close-knit community and the strong values imparted by her parents, which she carried throughout her life. She attended Bussell Church of Christ, where she developed a foundation of faith that would guide her in her many years to come.

In her professional life, Bettie was known for her sharp mind and attention to detail, which served her well in her career as an internal bank auditor. Her colleagues respected her for her integrity and her unwavering commitment to excellence in her work. Bettie's career was not just a job but a testament to her belief in the importance of trust and accountability.

Bettie's heart was always with her family. She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Lee Ferris, whose memory she held dear.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dominic Steven DeLuca of Cookeville, with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. Her legacy continues through her daughter, Karen (Gary) Leopardi of Livonia, MI; her sister, Marilyn Kanakis of Gainesboro; her five grandchildren, Dustin (Michelle) Ferris, Ariana Leopardi, Mariesa Leopardi, Vincent Leopardi, and Laura Dobbs; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Veronica, Lauren, Madeline, Ayah and Drew, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Bettie's interests were a reflection of her appreciation for the beauty and craft of the world around her. She had a special talent for cross stitching, creating intricate designs that were as much a part of her as her gentle smile. Her garden was a testament to her patience and nurturing spirit, with every bloom and leaf tended with love.

The loss of Bettie Maxwell DeLuca will be deeply felt by all who knew her. She touched many lives with her kindness, her wisdom, and her quiet strength. Bettie's memory will be a beacon for her family, a reminder of the love and the grace that she brought into this world. Her spirit, as vibrant as the flowers she so adored, will continue to inspire and comfort those she has left behind.

Bettie's life will be celebrated in a manner that honors the fullness with which she lived and the profound impact she had on those around her. Her story is one of love, dedication, and the enduring bonds of family—a story that will be cherished and recounted for generations to come.
