COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Betty Dean Copeland, age 87 of Cookeville and formerly of Hermitage, TN passed away on Wednesday September 24, 2025, at Charter Senior Living in Cookeville. Born October 12, 1937, in Livingston, TN, Betty was known for her kind heart and her love of caring for her family, friends and neighbors.
Betty was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church in Cookeville and previously attended Hermitage Hills Baptist Church in Hermitage, TN, where she faithfully served in the nursery and kitchen. Baking was one of her greatest talents, which she delighted in sharing with friends and neighbors. She had a love for bowling and participated in several senior leagues, providing her great fellowship with many friends. While relaxing at home, she enjoyed crocheting blankets and infant caps which she would donate to community groups and hospitals.
Betty is survived by her loving son Mike (Sue) Copeland, Kelsey (Patrick) Mattioli, great-granddaughter Camryn Sue Mattioli, her sister Katie Vaughn, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Mae Bilbrey Nolen, her beloved husband Earl (known by many as Doug) Copeland, as well as siblings Vesta Nolen, Denver Nolen, Haskel Nolen, Hazel Whittaker, Opal Walker, Roberta Smith, Wilbur Nolen, Billy Nolen, and Jean Reagan.
A private graveside service and interment for Betty will be at 1 pm on Tuesday, September 30 th at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life service is being planned for the near future in Cookeville and will be announced soon.
