A private funeral and graveside service for Mrs. Bobbie R. Mitchell, 88, of Cookeville, was held June 11, 2015. Mrs. Mitchell passed away peacefully on June 8, 2015. She was a loving wife and mother, who was deeply loved in return. She was born on February 6, 1927 in Putnam County, TN to the late Ben Bilyeu and Minnie Thompson Bilyeu. Mrs. Mitchell earned a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Tech University in 1954. She followed her life's dream of being a teacher and taught for nineteen years in the Putnam County School System. She taught four years at Burnet School and fifteen years at Capshaw Elementary School. She taught many students during her career and she admired all of them. Following her career she was a homemaker and traveled extensively. She was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ since 1965 and a life-long member of the Church of Christ. She lived her life by faith, devotion and conviction. Her sweetness, kindness and smile were her endearing qualities that touched everyone. She is survived by her husband, Sam E. Mitchell Sr. (whom she married on June 9, 1947) and two sons, Sammy E. Mitchell of Cookeville and Mario M. Mitchell of Brentwood. Her family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Brian Waggoner and staff, Amedysis Home Health and Visiting Angels for her care. Bro. John Mayher officiated the service. Members of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ served as pallbearers.
