COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Bobby Clinton Harp, age 81 of Cookeville, passed away on Wednesday evening January 14, 2026, at Signature HealthCare in Algood, Tennessee. Born on April 15, 1944, in Cookeville, Bobby lived a fulfilling life marked by his strong work ethic and deep love for his family.
Bobby carved out a successful career as a mechanic, specializing in Volkswagen and foreign-made cars. He began his professional journey at Hub Motors in Cookeville and later moved on to B and H Volkswagen. His passion for his craft led him to establish and operate North Washington Texaco, where he became a familiar and trusted figure in the area. After selling the Texaco station, Bobby began working at Co-op in Cookeville until his well-earned retirement. Alongside his career, he was a lifelong farmer who found joy in tending to cattle, reflecting his deep roots in the land and farming lifestyle.
Bobby was known for his kindness, directness, and unwavering honesty—qualities that endeared him to many. His strong work ethic and great sense of humor made him a beloved figure among friends and family alike. He took immense pride in his family, always putting them first and expressing his love for them fiercely. His legacy is reflected in the hearts of those he loved.
He is survived by his son, Larry Harp, (wife Gina); his sister, Beverly Green; his grandson, Hunter Harp, (wife Mindy); and a great-grandchild, Sutton Avery Harp. Their lives will forever be touched by Bobby’s unwavering love and guidance.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Clinton Harp and Pauline Oakley Harp; his wife, Lois Harp; and his brother, Billy Harp. Their memories will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him.
A funeral service to honor Bobby will be at 11 a.m. Saturday January 17 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Don Blackwell will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday from 9 - 11 a.m. Private interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
