Bud Shanks

Funeral services for Mr. George "Bud" Shanks, age 75 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, July 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Pastor Justin Grant will officiate. His family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Shanks died Sunday July 3, 2022 at his residence. He was born March 3, 1947 in Putnam County, TN to the late George Shores Shanks and Kathleen Skidmore Shanks. He earned a bachelors degree in accounting with a minor in agriculture. He worked as an accountant but spent most of his life as a cattle farmer. Bud was active in the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International (SCBI) and the Cattle Breeders of Kentucky. He was devoted to his faith and was a longtime member of Church on the Hill and served the church as a deacon and in various other ways. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Chrissa Shanks Williams and by an infant baby brother. He is survived by his grandson, Jacob Goin; his special lady friend, Holly Boshell; cousin, Wimberly Parks; and by many wonderful friends. Bud's Sunday school classmates will serve as pallbearers.
