Carl Lee Alred, left this world peacefully on January 22, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, at the age of 84. Born on December 17, 1939, in Overton County, TN, Carl's life was a testament to his unwavering faith, his love for his family, and his commitment to serving his community.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Aileen Randolph Alred, whom he married on June 20, 1958. Their enduring partnership was a source of strength and joy to both. He also leaves behind a legacy through his daughter-in-law, Deann; grandchildren, Laci (Ryan) Mollinet, Matthew (Kayla) Alred, Aaren (Chrystal) Alred, Cydney (Shawn) Alred, and Brooke Alred; and great-grandchildren, Grayson, Sophi, Ansley, Bella, Sydney, Addison, Stevi, Zepplyn, Ariyah, and Michaela.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William Herbert Alred and Myrtle Dishman Alred; his sons, Steve and Mike Alred; and his siblings, Oral Alred, Jo Morris, Keith Alred, and Jann Pickett. Each held a special place in his heart.
Carl's work ethic was evident in his long and dedicated career in electric utility service. He began working at the Southern California Edison Power Company. He later moved to back to Cookeville and began a remarkable career at the Cookeville Electric Department, from which he retired as Superintendent in January 2005 after 43 years of commitment. His professional life was marked not only by his skill and leadership but also by the respect and camaraderie he shared with his colleagues.
Beyond his work commitments, Carl served in the Tennessee Army National Guard, took to the skies as a private pilot, and shaped young minds as a former Cub Scout Leader. His volunteer work at Cookeville Regional Medical Center further reflected his unwavering dedication to helping others.
A devoted Christian, Carl was an active member of the Church of Christ, most recently the Willow Avenue Church of Christ. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and his purpose. He volunteered tirelessly, whether it involved children's activities, teaching classes, participating in benevolence programs, serving as Deacon, and serving as Elder. Carl's daily reading of the Bible was a source of comfort and inspiration to him.
Carl was a man who loved his family fiercely, was protective of those he held dear, and could always be counted on to bring laughter and lightness into any room. His sense of humor was as much a part of his legacy as his faith-filled life.
