COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Hahnert, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Pastor Bob Sotis will officaite.
Her family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Caroline Janet Hahnert, née Bright, passed away peacefully on Monday August 10, 2026 at home. Born on November 24, 1941, in Montgomery Park,California, Caroline’s life was marked by her enduring kindness, her devotion to her family, and her love for Jesus.. Her favorite thing to do in the quiet hours of the night was to sing hymns and worship songs along with her caregivers.
She attended Huntingdon College in Indiana and moved to Cookeville in 1970 along with her late husband, Michael.
Caroline worked at Kroger in Cookeville in the bakery for 30 years until retirement. She was a member of Summerfield United Methodist Church until they disbanded. Caroline wove faith and compassion into the fabric of her daily life. She found joy and fulfillment in her hobbies, delighting in card making and Raggedy Ann dolls, and spending many happy hours shopping at Hobby Lobby, always on the lookout for new materials to spark her imagination. Caroline’s creativity was matched only by her generosity; she was known for her handmade cards and gifts that brightened so many occasions for those she loved.
Caroline’s family was the center of her life. She is survived by her loving daughter, Trudy (Ronnie) Malone and Melissa (Bryan) Hendricks; her sons, Mark (Mary Gonzalez) Hahnert, and Matt (Carie-Michelle) Hahnert; thirteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Marilyn (37), Shawn (36), Gwyn (33), Ashleigh (29), Jessica (26), Bob (25), Rebecca (25), Birch (24), Logan (23), Elizabeth 21, Jared (21), Lydia (21), Cory (15) Spouses include Adam(38), Kaley (35), & Alex (21)`Great grandchildren include Lincoln (6), Valon (5), & Millie (3)
Caroline was preceded in death by her father, Arnold; her mother, Annie Katherine Webster Bright; her beloved husband of 51 years, Michael J. Hahnert; and her brothers, George Bright and Randy Bright.
