Carolyn Jones

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Carolyn Jones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted member of the Cookeville community, passed away peacefully at her home in Cookeville on August 2, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born in Cookeville, Tennessee, on May 2, 1946, Carolyn spent her formative years in the heart of the Upper Cumberland. Carolyn was the cherished daughter of Edley Dennis and Myrtle Hawkins Smith, both preceding her in death, as did her siblings Grady Smith, Demas Smith, Ada Woolbrite, Pauline Averitt, Gladys Myers, Jimmie Weems, Peggy Kinnaird, Hallie Garrison, and Nancy Loftis.

Carolyn’s soul was one of warmth and generosity, with her family always occupying the center of her heart. She spent her career as a book keeper at First Tennessee Bank, where her patience and attention to detail made her a trusted colleague to many. Beyond her work, Carolyn found enjoyment in traveling, exploring new places that added beautiful memories and stories to her life. Yet, it was at home-surrounded by those she loved-that she was happiest. Carolyn delighted in every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Singing brought her particular joy, and her voice-whether in celebration or quiet moments-was a thread that wove her family together.

Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband, Carl Jones, whose companionship was the foundation of her joy. She is also lovingly remembered by her son, Kevin (Mitzi) Jones, and her daughter, Sherry (Tim) Pippin. Her grandchildren-Cody (fiancé, Alivia Sparks) Jones, Kendall (Leah) Pippin, Kaitlin Jones, and Trent Jones-were a source of tremendous pride, each carrying forward her gentle spirit and kind heart. Carolyn’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Caysen Jones, Ava Pippin, and Walker Pippin, whom she showered with unwavering affection and care. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Peggie Brewington and niece Debbie Flatt, both of whom shared in her life’s joys and trials.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with James Rogers officiating.

Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery with Kendall Pippin, Cody Jones, Trent Jones, Tim Pippin, Stacy Brewington, Randy Kinnaird and Caysen Jones serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-8 PM and againg on Wednesday from 9 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Carolyn’s life was a testament to love, family, and thoughtful generosity. She touched countless lives and leaves a legacy of kindness and joyful memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Happy Haven Children's Home or Smyrna Cemetery.
