COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Carolyn Fields Meyer Leslie departed her earthly home on February 26, 2026, a little less than a month before her 91st birthday. She was born on the farm to John Dow & Annie Kate Jewell Fields at Lynn Point near Bradford, TN on March 22, 1935, where she joined her siblings Harlon Jewell Fields and Martha Kate Fields Bryant Dunagan. She attended Bethel College in McKenzie, TN where she met and married David L. Meyer in 1954. They had two children, David and Lisa. They moved to Cookeville in 1963 and she called it home for the rest of her life. She was the first secretary at the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce and helped organize the first Christmas Parade. She started the first employment agency in Cookeville, worked at DHS for years and then became involved in real estate, eventually becoming a mortgage lending officer, a job she thoroughly enjoyed and from which she retired.
She is survived by her husband of almost 25 years, Eldon Leslie, son David Meyer (Cookeville) and daughter Lisa Meyer Turner (Brent) (Columbus, Montana) and their son, David Crawford Turner (Denver, CO), her biggest joy in life. Also, Eldon’s children Pam Leslie Toline Gentry (Chet) (Cookeville), Belinda Leslie (Franklin, TN), Mitchell (Geana) Leslie (Cookeville) and Winston (Amy) Leslie (Harriman, TN) as well as 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two lifelong friends, Joann Duncan (Memphis, TN) and Pat Watts (Louisville, KY), nephews John Dunagan (Debbie) (Trenton, TN) Johnny Fields (Jenny) (Oxford, MS), Marsha Martin Fields (Memphis, TN), DiAnne Bryant (Martin, TN), Rene` Dunagan (Murfreesboro, TN) and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and siblings as well as her first husband in 1993, and her precious nephews: Tommy & Ted Bryant, Tim Dunagan and Richard Fields, brother-in-law, Russell Dunagan and sister-in-law, Gladys Fields, all of West Tennessee.
She served as an Elder with First USA Presbyterian Church. Later she and Eldon were faithful members at Collegeside Church of Christ and then Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
