He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and the simple joys of home.

Mr. Carr served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

He loved to work in his yard, taking pride in keeping it looking good. He was a hard worker and loved to help others. Clarence cared about his "people" and loved his people big. He was a trickster and loved to make others laugh. He was a selfless person.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Smith Carr of Cookeville, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his son, Craig Carr of Lafayette, Tennessee, and his wife, Tammy; his daughters, Amy Hall of Cookeville and her husband, Jason, and Cynthia Yancey of Chestnut Mound, Tennessee, and her husband, Scott. His family was further blessed by his grandchildren, Ashley Clemons and her husband, Mason; Ben Guffey and his wife, Stevie; Ayden Hall; TJ Wilmoth; Ruby Yancey; Jessica Tyree; and Kaitlyn Carr. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Clyde Clemons, Clover Clemons, Ollie Guffey, Archer Guffey, and many more. Each of them was a cherished part of his life, and his love for his family will remain a lasting gift in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Carr and Thelma Marie Jones Carr; his daughter, Jennifer Guffey; his sister, Denelda Carr Young; and his brother, Charles Carr. Their memories remained part of the story of his life and were held close by those who loved him.
