Funeral services for Mr. Clarence B. Wilson, age 91 of Baxter, will be held Wednesday, July 22nd at 5 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper- Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Pastors Josh Sherman and Michael Dickerson will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls Community. His family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 3 p.m. until service time. Social distance measures will be in place and his family kindly suggests that all guests wear facial coverings. Clarence passed from this life into the presence of his Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Life Care Center of Sparta. He was born December 22, 1928 in Cookeville to the late Elbert and Lucy Clio Wright Wilson. He served his country as a member of the US Army. He was owner of Wilson & Sons service station in Baxter for many years and later owner of Handymart Laundry in Cookeville. His honest and hardworking nature was a great example to his family. Spending time with his family was his first priority. Clarence was a long-time, active member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Baxter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Anna Louise Grimes Wilson; and by a brother, Charles Wilson. He is survived by his children, Ronnie (Thresa) Wilson, Barry (Dianne) Wilson and Tracy (Shane) Farris. He is also survived by his brother Joe Frank Wilson, six grandchildren, Charity Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Dusty (Samantha) Wilson, Courtney Wilson, Chelsea (Cody) Frye and Seth Farris, and two great - grandchildren, Brady Smith and Cate Smith, and a host of nieces and nephews. Clarence spent the last two and a half years of his life in Life Care Center in Sparta, TN, where he received care from their loving and compassionate staff. Prior to that, Clarence was a daily visitor to Life Care to help care for his beloved wife Louise. Clarence would arrive every morning at 8:00 a.m. and stay until 5 p.m. in the afternoon just to be with Louise. He did this every day for more than 3 years missing only a couple of days, first due to an ice storm and the second when he was recovering from back surgery. He and Louise developed many great friendships during their combined stays at Life Care. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to all these caring and dedicated special friends who cared for them like family. Brady Smith, Tyler Wilson, Dusty Wilson, Seth Farris, Cody Frye and Jeff Wilson will serve as pallbearers.
