HORNER FUNERAL HOME - Claude Edgar Maxwell, born on December 9, 1953, in Monterey, Tennessee, passed away on June 17, 2025, at the Overton County Health and Rehab in Livingston, Tennessee. He was a cherished member of his community and will be remembered for his strong work ethic and kind spirit.
Claude dedicated a significant part of his life to his career, initially working at TRW and later as a skilled welder. Beyond his professional life, he proudly served in the United States Army, contributing to his country with honor and dedication.
In his leisure time, Claude had a passion for entertainment, particularly enjoying wrestling matches and western films, which reflected his love for storytelling and the thrills of adventure. His personality shone through in his interactions, as he was known for his warm heart and genuine kindness.
Claude is survived by his son, Justin Claude Maxwell, of Kentucky; his sister, Barbara Hood, of Sparta; and his beloved grandchildren, including Jayce Maxwell, Jasmine Templeton, Jade Maxwell, Noah Maxwell, and William Wright. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Adalynn and Aaron Swanson. Claude leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, who will carry on his memory in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edgar and Clora Edna Cooper Maxwell, as well as his brothers Arles, James, and William "Bill" Maxwell. Claude also grieved the loss of his sisters, Anna Youngblood, Kathy Maxwell, Saundra Ford, and Nita Maxwell.
Funeral services Claude Edgar Maxwell will be held at 1 PM Friday, June 20, 2025 at Horner Funeral Home of Monterey with Pastor Justin Owens officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Welch Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Claude Edgar Maxwell's legacy of love, dedication, and hard work will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him and in the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends.
