COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Curtis Edward Honeycutt passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday January 27, 2026, at home, at the age of 84. He was born on November 23, 1941, in Bakersfield, California.
Curtis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Carol Honeycutt, who passed into the Kingdom of God in June 2023.
Curtis dedicated 30 years of service to the California Highway Patrol, faithfully protecting and serving his community. Known for his steady presence, integrity, and strong work ethic, Curtis took pride in a career built on responsibility and quiet leadership.
After his retirement, Curtis and Carol became foster parents. Together they fostered more than 150 children over 26 years, opening their home and hearts to children in need. Curtis believed deeply in the importance of family, commitment, and providing stability and love to others, values he lived out daily.
For the last 15 years, Curtis was an active member of Cookeville Nazarene Church, where he faithfully supported the church community alongside Carol. His dedication was shown through service, generosity, and a quiet willingness to help wherever needed.
Curtis is survived by his children: Michelle MacGregor (husband Dennis), Curtis Honeycutt Jr. (wife Allyson), Cindy Finck (husband Brian), Summer Plunkett (husband Dakota), and Karl Honeycutt.
He was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Royce MacGregor (wife Hannah), Ryan MacGregor, Halie MacGregor, Destiny MacGregor, Ella MacGregor; Kendra Pentecost (husband Hayden) and Olivia Honeycutt; Garrison Finck, Mackenzie Finck, Hannah Finck; Cheyenne Plunkett and Remington Plunkett.
Curtis was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Elora MacGregor; Mavis Samford; and Eastyn and Henry Pentecost.
His grandchildren were truly the light of his life. He loved them deeply and was endlessly proud of each one, often bragging about their kindness, character, and accomplishments. During his time in the hospital, Curtis made a point to tell everyone how impressed the nurses were with his grandchildren and the care and love they showed, a reflection of the values he and Carol worked so hard to instill.
Curtis had a servant’s heart and found joy in caring for others. He was known for sharing his time, wisdom, and love freely-often around a table. One of his most cherished traditions was his famous carrot cake. His secret recipe has been lovingly passed down to the women of his family, who will continue to share it with his church family, just as Curtis always did.
Curtis touched the lives of many while here on earth and will continue to touch the hearts of many as they reflect on their time with him.
His Lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Matthew 25:23 (NKJV)
Graveside service to be planned in the future.
