Dale Leo Johns

COOKEVILLE CHAPELL - Dale Leo Johns passed away Thursday November 20, 2025 at his home in Silver Point, TN surrounded by his family. He was born on December 30, 1944 to Ernest Leo and Lois Jane Johns. Dale attended Mount Summit High School and graduated in 1963, alongside his twin (and older by fifteen minutes) sister, Gayle. Dale was a United States Army Veteran, as well as a retiree of the Chrysler Corporation in New Castle, Indiana, after working for them for more than forty years.

Dale loved to spend time outdoors. If he could be outside, that's where you would find him. He was an avid fisherman, fishing all over the US and Canada with his late wife, Judy, his late grandson, Tyler, and many great friends throughout the course of his life. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends on the golf course.

Dale was a storyteller. He could easily captivate any audience with stories he told, and would keep the stories rolling for as long as he could keep you listening. He had no shortage of tales to tell, and had a true gift for telling them.

Dale was known to be an ornery guy, and was very proud of this particular part of his character. He was always ready to give a hard time all in fun, and his ornery grin to anyone he knew and loved.

His favorite pastime was to hang out with his buddies at the cabin, sitting around the fire, sharing Motown, and old R&B music, and of course many laughs. Toward the end of his life, he enjoyed spending time with his great grandson, Luca, who loved his adventures at Papaw Dale's.

He lived his 80 years to the fullest extent, and left a big impression on all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Judy Ann Johns, sisters, Barbara Antle and Phyllis Smith, and grandson, Tyler J. Johns.

He is survived by his four children Michelle "Shelly" Kay Youst (Bruce) of Sparta, TN, Angela Monique Hussey (Carson) of Indianapolis, IN, Heather Marie Perkins (John) of Sparta, TN and Jeremiah Dale Johns of Spiceland, IN; ten grandchildren, Whitnie White (Amy), Gabe Poore, Brighten Adkins (Tara), Keifer Adkins (Charity), Katelyn Hussey, Hadley Hussey, Sydni Perkins, Josie Perkins, Karissa Johns and Avery Johns, along with seven great grandchildren.

Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111. You may share your thoughts and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
