COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Betty Darlene Hale, a cherished and devoted caregiver to her family, passed away on Friday February 27, 2026, at her sister's residence in Cookeville, Tennessee. Born on May 5, 1952, in Council, Virginia, Darlene was a joyful presence in the lives of many, characterized by her fun, cheerful, and happy-go-lucky personality.
Darlene had a remarkable career as an office manager at the Buchanan County Public Service Authority in Vansant, Virginia, where she dedicated over twenty years of her life until her retirement. Her professional journey was marked by her commitment to excellence and her friendly demeanor, traits that made her well-liked among her colleagues. After retiring, Darlene chose to devote her time to caring for ailing family members, embodying her naturally nurturing spirit and her enduring role as a loving caregiver.
A proud graduate of Council High School, class of 1970, Darlene maintained ties to her roots throughout her life. She was an active and faithful member of Free Christian Church, continuing her interest and support even after relocating to Tennessee in 2023.
Darlene's interests often reflected the simple pleasures in life; she enjoyed delightful meals, particularly a good steak and baked potato, which she frequently shared with friends and family. She had a truly unique ability to consistently put others first, fostering deep and lasting friendships.
She is survived by her loving sister, Chloe Estelle Regon, and her sister-in-law, Rita Hale. She will be profoundly missed by her extended family of niece and nephews and by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Darlene is predeceased by her parents, Clarence Hale and Nora Fletcher Hale, and her siblings: Buster Hale, Julia Lester, Shirley Lockhart, Joyce Faulkner, Bert Hale, Buford Hale, and Paul Hale.
A memorial service is being held Saturday March 28, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Free Christian Church, 1110 Admiral Road Honaker, Virginia 24260 with visitation 12:00 until time of service.

Darlene Hale leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and laughter. Her memory will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have walked alongside her in life.
