COOKEVILLE CHAPEL-Deborah Leigh (Cummings) Blessman Age 65 of Gordonsville, TN passed away peacefully at Cookeville Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and friends on Sunday February 22, 2026, after a 10-year battle with cancer.
Debbie was born in Memphis, TN on July 25, 1960, to Carolyn and Willard Cummings. She graduated from Round Rock High School in Austin, TX in 1978 and Adelphia Business School in Philadelphia PA in 1981. She married David Blessman on March 14, 1987, and worked as Staff Accountant in Cookeville, TN before retiring in 2020. Debbie loved animals, especially dogs and was known for her big heart. She loved everyone she met, accepting them as they were.
She is survived by her husband David Blessman of Gordonsville, parents, Willard and Carolyn Cummings of Cookeville, sister Lana Brookshire and brother-in-law Steve Brookshire of Maryville, goddaughter Kristen Coates of Kansas City, MO, nieces Allyson Dunford of Pueblo, CO, Rebeca Blessman of Lynchburg, VA, Rachel Rorrer of Woolwine, VA; nephews Joshua Blessman of Williamsburg, VA Elliott Blessman of Colorado Springs, CO and Nathanael Blessman of Woolwine, VA.
Debbie is at Hooper Huddleston & Horner in Cookeville, TN. Family and friends will be received from 11am to 1pm on Monday March 2 with funeral service at 1pm and a private family gathering at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery following.
