COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - A celebration to honor the life of Delores Marie Serecin will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 am at Christ Alliance Church in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, 1881 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
Delores Marie Serecin passed away on Wednesday July 1, 2026, at the age of 91, at the Webb House in Smithville, TN. Delores was born June 2, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, but her heart always belonged to the small Appalachian coal patch of Shoaf, Pennsylvania, where she spent much of her childhood in the loving care of her great-grandparents. Though life was often marked by hardship and modest means, she carried with her throughout her life the lessons she learned there: that love, kindness, and family were life’s greatest treasures.
She later made her home in Youngstown, Ohio, where she graduated from East High School and met the love of her life. Together they built a family grounded in devotion, generosity, and enduring love. Delores found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother. She welcomed family into her home with open arms, expressed her love through home-cooked meals, laughter, and quiet acts of kindness, and never missed the opportunity to wave goodbye until loved ones were safely out of sight.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Bush McCuthcheon, and by her husband, Vince Serecin. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be lovingly combined with those of her beloved companion, Toby, whose faithful friendship brought her years of comfort, joy and unconditional love.
She is survived by her son, Vince (Vicky) Serecin; daughters, Elaine (Bob) Donhoffner, Lara Serecin and Colby Schneider; grandchildren, Bianca and Nate Parrish and Delores and Brian Luoma and Regina and Camille Serecin; step sister, Carole Dainus; and by nieces, Debbie Mottes and Pam Cortese.
Her legacy is not measured by worldly accomplishments, but by the lives she nurtured, the traditions she created, her commitment and love for Jesus and the unconditional love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are suggested to be made to Christ Alliance Church, 1881 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 1500.
Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111. Share memories and condolences at www.hhhfunerals.com.
