COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - DeWayne Simmons, born on April 19, 1972, in Sparta, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday February 16, 2026 at Williamson Medical Center. He leaves behind lasting legacy, both in his life and in the hearts of those loved him.

With an impressive career over 30 years in the automotive manufacturing industry, DeWayne began his journey on the assembly line and worked diligently to achieve the role of engineering manager. His dedication and passion for his work were evident, and he took pride in mentoring others, most notably his son, DeWayne Anthony Simmons, who followed in his father’s footsteps.

Despite his commitment to his career, DeWayne always cherished his role as a family man. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, Evelyn Alice, Anthony Brom, and Wesley Alexander Simmons, relishing the title of Pop Pop. DeWayne found immense joy in taking trips to Disney parks with his wife, Emma Ogletree Simmons, and their children, and granddaughter, Evelyn, creating lasting memories together.

His interests extended beyond work; he was an avid reader and a passionate gamer. A true science fiction and fantasy aficionado, DeWayne enjoyed immersing himself in the worlds of Marvel, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek.

DeWayne is survived by his beloved wife, Emma Ogletree Simmons; his son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne Anthony and Kassandra Simmons; his daughter, Savannah Narice Simmons; his grandchildren, Evelyn Alice, Anthony Brom, and Wesley Alexander Simmons; his parents, Connie and Ricky Gentry; his father-in-law, Isaac Smith; and his nephew, Dustin Lee Downer, along with his children, Jaiden and Scarlett Downer, all from Spring Hill, Tennessee. He is also preceded in death by his father, Leonard Allen Simmons.

Memorial Services for Allen DeWayne Simmons will be held Saturday March 7, 2026 at 3:00 pm in the Cookeville Chapel at Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Cookeville Chapel.

DeWayne Simmons will be remembered as a dedicated professional, a loving husband and father, and a cherished Pop Pop whose humor and warmth touched the lives of many. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
