COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Eva Diane Gambrell Whited, 69, passed away on Monday June 22, 2026. Born on March 25, 1957, in Cookeville, Tennessee, Diane lived a life filled with love, creativity, and compassion. She found joy in flower gardening and had a remarkable talent for sewing, crocheting, and exploring all kinds of new crafts. She loved to cook and took great pride in sharing meals with those she loved. Animals always held a special place in her heart, and her kindness extended to every creature she encountered.
Diane is survived by her loving son, Mike Sparks; her stepfather, Glenn Carden; her sisters, Regina Gambrell Diaz and Tenelle Gambrell Lourelli (Matt); her aunts, Edith Anderson and Martha Hunter; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She will be remembered for her caring heart, creative spirit, generous nature, and the love she gave so freely to her family and those around her. Whether tending to her flowers, creating something beautiful with her hands, preparing a delicious meal, or caring for an animal in need, Diane found happiness in bringing comfort and joy to others.
Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family asks that she be remembered not only in sorrow but in the simple joys she cherished-a blooming flower garden, a handmade gift, a home-cooked meal, or an act of kindness toward an animal in need.
A funeral service honoring Diane will be at 1 p.m. Monday June 29 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Seth Presley will officiate. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be Monday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
All who knew and loved Diane are invited to remember and celebrate her life and the kindness she shared with others. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111 Share condolences and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
