COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Mr. Donald Virgil Anderson, age 81 of Cookeville, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 at NHC of Cookeville surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was the first of seven children born to the late Garland Virgil and Bonnie Estell Underwood Anderson. Donald was a loving husband, father, PAPA, son, and brother. He loved his Lord, his family, and his church family. Donald worked at McCords for 31 years until it closed. Everyone knew him as “Andy.” He then went on to work at Fleetguard for 14 years. He made good friends wherever he was, and they remain his good friends today. Donald was a talented woodworker who could make anything out of wood. A longtime member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ, Donald was a fine Christian man who made a difference in the lives of everyone who was blessed to know him.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sister Jean Anderson; two brothers Ronnie Anderson and Robert Anderson.
Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years Lucille Gunnels Anderson

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Friday, September 20, 2024 from the Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with burial in Double Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Buddy Johnson will officiate.
Michael Anderson, Justin Cook, Brent Anderson, Jase Anderson, Andrew Scott and Ricky Young will serve the family as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers and special friends are Clifford and Dorothy Young, as well as the past and present members of the late Tom Tomberlin’s Carving Class.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to NHC of Cookeville for their compassionate care and support during Donald’s final days and to special caregiver Marilyn Mashburn.
