Donald “Donnie” Luke Huddleston of Baxter, TN died at the age of 73 on August 6, 2026. Donnie was born February 13, 1953 in Lebanon, TN. Donnie was the second of five sons (David, Donnie, Gary, Bruce d. 1978, Mike) to Milton Theodore “Ted” (d. 2026) & Naomi “Carolyn” (d. 2020) Huddleston.
Donnie attended Upperman High School in Baxter, TN class of (1971). It was there he met and first dated his future wife Peggy Hayes. Donnie worked for Ford Glass Plant and later in quality control at Nissan Automotive for 27 years from which he retired in 2009. Donnie was a man of many talents and interests. From strumming a little guitar and writing poetry, to gardening vegetables and flowers, to taking care of his handyman “honey-do” projects. He enjoyed fishing with his good friend Berri Burroughs and playing cards with his crew (Helen & Brian Burgess, Rema Faye Billingsley, and Chuck Chimberg).
Anyone who knew Donnie knows, he was a man of great faith. He attended New Home Baptist Church in Boma, and was a faithful witness of the power of God’s love through Christ. He found great joy and love again when he married his wife Peggy (Hayes) Huddleston, whom he reconnected with at their 50th High School reunion.
He was the greatest father to his children Jennifer Sauvie (Martin Sauvie) and Adam Huddleston (Myiesha Huddleston) & bonus father to Brad Frasier (Jennifer Frasier) and Kristen Frasier (Jen Newton-Frasier). There was no better grandfather “Papa” in the world than Donnie. He is immeasurably missed by his grandchildren Carolyn Rose & Aubrey Jane (Jennifer); Mya Marie (Adam); Caleb, Connor & Collin (Kristen); Jacob, Mac & Lily (Brad).
Donnie’s laugh personified joy and he walked a life of “help thy neighbor.” As such, he leaves sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends with treasured memories.
Donnie’s Celebration of Life will be at Hooper Huddleston & Horner – Baxter Chapel 5324 4th Ave S Baxter, TN on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 4 pm. Visitation hours 1pm-4pm.
