COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Donneita Smith, a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and cherished member of the Cookeville community, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 6, 2026, at her residence in Cookeville, Tennessee at the age of 75. Born on June 29, 1950, in Cookeville, she lived a life marked by dedication to family, faith, and service.

Donneita was a proud attendee of Putnam County Schools, where she laid the foundation for a life anchored in learning and community involvement. Professionally, she committed her talents to administration, working diligently as a Human Resources employee. Her career was distinguished by a steadfast work ethic and a genuine care for those she served alongside.

A woman of deep faith, Donneita was of the Free Will Baptist faith, a spiritual foundation that guided her throughout her life. She found joy in simple pleasures such as reading books, watching soap operas, and shopping at TJ Maxx - pastimes that brought her comfort and happiness.

Her family was the center of her world. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Jeff (Trish) Smith, Scott (Lindsey) Smith, and Mitchell Smith, all residents of Cookeville. She also leaves behind her sisters, Gale Swallows and Kayla Rager. Donneita’s legacy continues through her grandchildren Heather Smith, Heidi Mosteller, Holly Smith, Jacob Smith, Tucker Smith, and Kelsey Smith, as well as her great-grandchild, Avery Mosteller. She shared a special bond with her dear friend, Connie Bilbrey, who provided companionship and affection over the years.

Donneita was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Joyce Vaughn Hearld; her husband, Glen Edward Smith; her brother, Jimmy Hearld; and her sister, Keeble Bell.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Tosh officiating.

Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery with Jacob Smith, Tucker Smith, Landon Mosteller, Matt Swallows, Scott Swallows and David Hearld serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Donneita Smith will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering faith, and the loving support she gave her family and friends. Her presence touched many, and she leaves behind a rich legacy of love and dedication. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
