Doris Ernst

Graveside services and interment for Doris Ann Ernst, 81 of Cookeville, will be Monday, September 19 at 1:30 PM at Phillips Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday at Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home from 11 AM until we leave in procession to the cemetery at 1 PM. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate.

Mrs. Ernst died Wednesday night, September14, 2022 at Bailey Manor in Cookeville.

She was born September 20, 1940 in Putnam County to the late James Austin and Ida Meadows Phillips.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas F. Ernst, II, grandparents, Byrd and Arvie Wilmoth Phillips and several aunts and uncles.

Doris attended Tennessee Tech University and retired as a Lab Technician with Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

She was a member of Post Oak Presbyterian Church.

Doris enjoyed genealogy, animals, especially her little dogs, and loved planting flowers. She loved reading and studying science and watching history shows. Doris had a great sense of humor.

Survivors include sister and brother-in-law Becky and David Wieland, niece Veronica Volz, all of Cookeville, cousins Wanda Gregory, Norma Leonard, Barbara Sue Curtis, Bennie Carol Mason, Howard and Raymond Anderson, Jarvis and Lewis Matheney, Sharon Wylie, special life-long friend Sylvia Ann Stulpin.
