Douglas Lee Rush, Sr., affectionately known as Doug, passed away October 18, 2023, at the age of 64. Born on September 29, 1959, in Baltimore, MD, Doug was a loving father, devoted husband, and cherished friend to many.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Mary Anne Draper Rush; his loving daughters, Kimberly Copenhaver of Abingdon, MD, Melissa Schulze of Edgewood, MD, Paishence Rush of Gainesboro, TN, and Brittany Nash of Cookeville; his devoted sons, Douglas Rush, Jr. of Edgewood, MD, and TJ Mowrey of Gainesboro, TN. He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Deborah Pate of Flushing, MI, Theresa McElhose, Wanda Gurson, and Lori Adams, all from Baltimore, MD. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney Roger Rush, Sr., and Myrtle Theresa Leash Rush, and by his brother, Rodney Rush, Jr.
Doug dedicated 13 years of his life to Lee Company, where he worked as an HVAC maintenance technician. His colleagues remember him as a hard-working, dependable, and friendly team member. His dedication to his work was evident in the quality of service he provided, and he was highly respected by both his colleagues and clients.
Doug was known for his jovial nature and his love for humor. He could always be counted on to lighten the mood with a joke or a funny anecdote. He was also a caring and patient person, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of many people, and his legacy will be remembered through the countless lives he touched.
Remembered for his loving and caring nature, Doug had a heart full of love and a spirit full of joy. His positivity was infectious, and he had a unique ability to make everyone around him feel special and loved. He had a knack for making people laugh, and his sense of humor was one of his most endearing qualities. His family and friends will forever remember his laughter and his unwavering dedication to those he loved.
