Earl Thompson

BAXTER CHAPEL-Earl Thompson, a life-long resident of Baxter, TN was born May 13, 1958 in Cookeville, TN and died Sunday, May 11, 2025 at his home in Baxter, surrounded by his family at the age of 66.

Earl was a 1976 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter. His work ethic led him to Putnam Plastics (now Encompass Plastics) where he served as a materials handler. He enjoyed his work and his co-workers.

Earl enjoyed the outdoors, riding the "hollows" and looking at the scenery and wildlife. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by wife Angela Zipper Thompson of Baxter, step-sons Ray Moon and Cody Moon both of Kansas, sister Modena Thompson of Baxter, brother Bobby (Rene) Thompson of Chattanooga, brother-in-law Wayne "PUGS" Lawson of Baxter, nieces and nephews: Sarah, Ronnie, Maddie, Lilly, Brandon (Jennie) Thompson and their son Alex, special friends Doug and Tammy Goolsby.

Earl was preceded in death by step-daughter Alexis Rain Moon, father George M. Shanks, mother Betty Quarles, sister Regina Lawson.

Earl's wishes of cremation and no formal services are being honored.
