Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Pearl Slagle, 95, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 29 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Rev Charles Hutchinson and Rev. Bob Pharris will officiate. Interment will follow at the Pugh Cemetery in Cumberland County. The family will receive friends Friday from 3 – 6 p.m. and again Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Slagle died Tuesday evening, August 25, 2015 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born April 26, 1920 in Fentress County, TN to the late William Wyatt and Lola Robinson Elmore. She was a member of Cookeville First Baptist Church and particularly enjoyed the Happy Travelers group. Mrs. Slagle was retired from Acme Boot with over thirty years of service. At home she loved being outside gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lee Slagle Sr.; five brothers, Bud Elmore, Dale Elmore, Joe Elmore, Benton Elmore, and Ed Elmore; and two sisters, Elizabeth Lee and Hazel Stoddard. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Anita Slagle; daughter, Betty Whiteaker; granddaughter, Lori Whiteaker all of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
