Edward Robinson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024, in Cookeville, TN, at the age of 80, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 16, 1943, in Buffalo Valley, TN to the late Beecher and Irene (Bush) Robinson. Edward, affectionately known as Edd, lived a life marked by dedication, joy, and a love for the simple pleasures of the world around him.
Edd's journey began as a young man working at Red Capp, where he quickly learned the value of hard work and determination. His early career at Jim Horn Economy Auto sparked a passion that led him to establish his own business, Edd's Auto Trim. For 55 years, he poured his heart into his work, building a legacy that continues to thrive under the stewardship of his son, Stacy.
Married to his beloved wife, Linda (Peek) Robinson, for 60 years, Edd's life was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised a family that includes their son, Stacy Robinson and his wife Christi (Lynch) Robinson, and their daughter, Misty (Robinson) Pharris and her husband Rick. Edd's joy was multiplied by his grandsons, Jason, Logan, Tyler, and O'Ryan Parker; brothers, Arnold Robinson and wife Jean, and Donald Robinson and wife Sandra; sisters, Wilma (Robinson) Doan, Mable (Robinson) Duke and Freida (Robinson) Poston and husband Jerry; sisters-in-law, Velma (King) Peek and Tammy (Peek) Dodd and husband Mark; and his brother-in-law, Tom England.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Robert Doan, Gene Duke and Jerry Peek; sister-in-law, Donna (Peek) England, and his father and mother-in-law, Bro. Raymond and Dorothy Peek.
Mr. Robinson was a member of Knight's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Robinson found great joy in the outdoors. He was happiest when hunting, fishing, or simply being outside. His love for the farm and working with his tractor was only matched by his skill in "tinkering" with anything that needed fixing. Edd's cabin was a place of fun and creativity, where he was truly a jack-of-all-trades.
His interests were as varied as they were passionate. He loved teaching his children and grandchildren to ride motorcycles, marveling at the beauty of butterflies, and enjoying the warmth of the Florida sun as a "snowbird" during the colder months. Going to the ocean and watching dolphins brought him great joy. He liked "oldies" and classic country music. He was also very competitive, enjoying spirited games of "Phase 10" with his family, even though he was known for not being the best at losing.
Edward Robinson's life was filled with love, work, and play. He left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. He approached life with a sense of wonder and a willingness to lend a hand or share a laugh. His hardworking nature was evident in everything he did, whether it was running his business or caring for his family and friends.
"Special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Gotcher and staff."
