Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Clydia McAlpin Turner, age 76, of Algood, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday January 9 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Donna Peak will officiate. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 - 7 p.m. and again Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time. Elizabeth passed away Sunday morning January 6, 2019 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was born November 30, 1942 in Algood, TN to the late Clyde and Willie Mary Verble McAlpin. Elizabeth graduated from Algood High School in 1960. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Tennessee Tech in 1964. She was an educator in the Putnam County School System. She taught at Algood High School, Early Childhood Education, and eventually retired from Upperman High School. Elizabeth was a member of Paran Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Patrick Veit; sister, Rebecca Nelson; and granddaughter, Allison Veit, all of Glendale, AZ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Turner. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
