DYER CHAPEL-Elma Irene Garber, age 87, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Cookeville, TN on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Born on January 20, 1939 in Merrill, Michigan, Elma was a vibrant spirit whose life was marked by her deep commitment to family and her many passions.

A devoted member of The Bridge Church in Bradenton, FL, Elma was known for her warmth and generosity. She took great joy in spending time with her family and friends, which was evident in her unwavering support and love for them throughout her life. She had a profound impact on the lives of those around her, embodying the values of kindness and compassion.

Elma was also an avid gardener and enjoyed canning, taking pride in the fruits of her labor. Her green thumb extended beyond her garden, as she cultivated relationships that blossomed with care and attention. In addition to her gardening, she found enjoyment in bowling.

Elma will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Jeffrey Roy (Joquita) Garber of Bradenton, FL, Thomas (Laura) Garber of Bradenton, FL, and Rodney (Melissa) Garber of Sebring, FL. Her four daughters, Pamela Garber of Spring Hill, TN, Cathy Metty of Monterey, TN, Mary Brissette of Charlotte, NC, and Deborah Garber of Monterey, TN; her three step children, Gary (Janet) Garber, Jerry Garber and Randy Garber. She was a proud grandmother to 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Elma was preceded in death by her parents, Clare and Florence Seips Gay, her husband, Roy Garber; her cherished son, Robin Garber; and three sisters, Wilma Gay, Shirley Gay and Lucille Roberts. Though she is gone, her spirit will continue to be felt in the hearts of her family and friends, who will remember her for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love.

Elma's family are following her wishes of cremation with no services.
