COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Evelyn Ruth Frazier née McReynolds, affectionately known as Evie, was ushered into the arms of the Lord on Monday September 22, 2025. Born August 17, 1938 in Baxter, Tennessee, Evelyn graduated from Park View High School before eloping with Bobby Frazier.
Shortly after their marriage, they moved to her parent’s home before going to the Nashville area where Evelyn was a certified beautician. Having her hair and nails done was a lifelong point of pride for Evie. She did not feel dressed without her purse and her nails done, and all of her children and grandchildren were the beneficiaries of Evelyn haircuts. After moving all over the country (Florida, Washington state, California, Louisiana), she and Bob moved back to Cookeville where Evelyn worked for many years at the ophthalmology office of Dr. Holmes and Dr. Epley where she made lasting friendships. Her faith journey sustained her, especially after the death of their daughter, Lori. Evelyn took a treasured trip to the Holy Land in the 1980s.
Evelyn had a lifelong eye for design, most frequently found in her sewing projects. Her sewing room was her pride and joy and her children and grandchildren loved receiving an Evie’s Design gift. Her home is filled with pillows and draperies of her own creation. She was known to have a sketchpad and/or design board beside her, especially when she and Bob were in a building project. Photography, drawing, fashion design, and film are occupations and talents passed on to her children and grandchildren. She loved flowers and spent time drying hydrangeas and decorating her home just so. She was always a bit more tech savvy than anyone else around and could be found doing design games and I-spy games on her iPad until the last few weeks of her life. Forever known as Nana after her first grandchild was born, she will be affectionately remembered for her Nana ‘s special sandwiches, her extraordinary patience, feeding the ducks at the park, time with her beloved dog Muffin, playing computer games (Chuzzle) with the kids, and always having time to champion her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her warm smile and infectious laughter will be forever missed.
Evelyn is predeceased by her mother (Vennie Mahan McReynolds) and father (James McReynolds), husband Robert G. Frazier, daughter Lori A. Frazier, her sisters and brothers: Quinton McReynolds, Walter (Red) McReynolds, Lorene Iverson, Jimmy McReynolds, Eula Parkerson, Lois Griffin, and Tommy McReynolds.
She is survived by her sons Jeff and Chris (Petra) Frazier, her granddaughters Kelsi Frazier, Kayla Frazier (Will), Heidi Frazier; her grandsons Matthew Frazier and Lucas Frazier; and her great-grandchildren Addison, Wylder, and Kadance and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday October 3rd at Hooper and Huddleston at noon. Visitation preceding at 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery.
If desired, donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
