Faith McClain

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Faith Marie McClain, age 62, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 4, 2026, at Grandview Post Acute Nursing Home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on August 7, 1963, in Rockwood, Tennessee, Faith was known for her warmth, quick wit, and generous heart. She cherished the people she loved, never met a stranger for long, and had a way of turning acquaintances into lifelong friends. Her genuine interest in others made her a treasured presence wherever life took her.

Faith worked at the Putnam County Health Department, where she was fortunate to find coworkers who became lifelong friends. Their unwavering support and encouragement throughout her cancer treatments meant more to her than words could express. During her treatments at the Cancer Center at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, she formed many new friendships as well, touching lives wherever she went with her warmth, kindness, and unmistakable sense of humor.

Faith was married to the love of her life, Toby McClain, whom she affectionately called “Pumpkin.” Their marriage was built on love, friendship, and endless laughter. Though Toby passed away in May 2014, those who knew Faith could see that he remained forever in her heart.

She was also preceded in death by her two beloved dogs, Puddy and Harley, who undoubtedly greeted her with wagging tails.

Faith loved autumn and all the magic that came with it. She especially loved Halloween and transformed her home into a haunted masterpiece each October. She delighted in elaborate decorations, creative scares, and finding new ways to startle unsuspecting visitors. Faith never passed up the chance for a good prank and considered making people jump at least a little bit a public service.

Faith was also an exceptionally talented writer whose work appeared in numerous publications over the years. Her love of reading began in childhood, when she spent countless hours at the library, and remained a lifelong passion. She was rarely far from a good book, and Stephen King was among her favorite authors.

Some of her happiest childhood memories were summer outings with her grandparents to Cumberland Mountain State Park and afternoons spent at the Varsity Cinema and Princess Theatre. Those experiences helped foster a vivid imagination and deep love of movies and storytelling that remained with her throughout her life.

Faith leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, and laughter that will continue to be shared for years to come. While her family and friends will miss her dearly, they find comfort in imagining her reunited with Pumpkin, Puddy, and Harley-and perhaps already planning a practical joke on anyone who arrives too seriously.

Her life was a reminder that laughter is healing, friendship is precious, and every Halloween decoration deserves to be just a little over the top.

Faith will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In keeping with her wishes, no services are planned.
