Fran Gibson

DYER CHAPEL-Frances Mason Gibson, age 77, of Cookeville, Tennessee passed peacefully into the waiting arms of her Savior on June 14, 2024 at NHC of Cookeville. Fran was born in Louisville, Kentucky.

She put God and her family first. She stayed home to raise her daughter, Heather. She was an avid organic gardener and animal lover riding Hunter Jumper horses, raising chickens, milking goats, and participating in saving animals through the Humane Society. Fran was also a part time church secretary and organist. Many days found her playing the piano and singing hymns. With her husband, George, of 58 years, she loved various ministries such as food pantries, nursing home ministries, and sharing their faith with others.

At the age of 49, Fran graduated in 1995 from the University of Louisville with her BSN, RN. After moving to Tennessee in 1995, Fran began her nursing career with hospice and ended it with educating orthopedic patients regarding their procedures. Fran loved teaching people whether it was regarding their health, planting a garden, or making a deal at the grocery store.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents William Thomas Mason, Sr. and Gladys Loring Vanhooser Mason and brother William Thomas Mason, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband George Wallace Gibson and only child Heather Christine Gibson and her sister Barbara Kay Parrish. She will be missed.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hampton's Crossroads Baptist Church in Cookeville, TN on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 12:00pm. Visitation will be from 10:00 am up until service time and a meal to follow service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Hampton's Crossroad Baptist Church for future landscaping.
