A proud graduate of Cookeville Central High School in 1963, Gary excelled both academically and athletically. He was an honored member of the Cookeville Cavalier Football Hall of Fame and later pursued his studies at Tennessee Tech University, where he continued to play football until a knee injury ended his sporting aspirations.

Professionally, Gary was a respected accountant with the US Army Corps of Engineers. His work was marked by precision and integrity, reflecting his true character. Beyond his professional achievements, Gary was deeply connected to his community and faith as a devoted member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ.

Gary had a personality that shone brightly; he was big in stature yet gentle in spirit. He was often described as a true gentleman and a class act, known for his infectious sense of humor and ability to bring joy to those around him. He loved life, whether he was cracking jokes or spending quality time with his loved ones. He had a passion for golfing and enjoyed traveling, experiences that enriched his life.

He is survived by his brother, Jim Wyatt, his nieces and nephews, Jason, Andy, Felicia, Michelle (Darnell) Wyatt, Torre and Michael (Maddie); ; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and David Andrews; his step-son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Lisa Reels; his grandchildren, Jessica and her husband, Jordan Burgess, and Emma Andrews; and his great-grandchildren, Lennox, Finn, Karsyn, and Anniston Burgess; great nieces and nephews, Macy (Luke), Chase (Taylor), Matt, Holly (Levi), Grayson, Wyatt, Aiden, Ashlyn, Selena and Waylon. These family members held a special place in Gary’s heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Lester Wyatt; his mother, Lorraine Bilbrey Wyatt Warren; his step-father, Lloyd Warren; his wife, Bobbie Gunnels Wyatt; his brother, Jack Wyatt; and his sister-in-law, Peggy Wyatt and nephew Jim Wyatt. Each of them played a significant role in his life, shaping the man he became.
