COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Lura Georgiann Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on November 15, 1931, she lived a life marked by devotion to her family and her faith.
Georgiann was primarily a homemaker who dedicated her life to nurturing her children and instilling in them the values of faith in the Lord Jesus and the importance of education. After graduating from college with a degree in Merchandising, Georgiann married Gilbert (Gil) Johnson in December of 1953. Gil served in the Air Force, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. As with most military families, they lived in many locations across the United States, adapting to new environments while building a loving home.
Beyond her role in the family, Georgiann had diverse interests that brought her joy. She enjoyed playing bridge, attaining the title "Golden Hand." Additionally, Georgiann enjoyed bowling, shopping excursions, and dedicating time to her church community, where she actively studied the Bible, deepening her faith.
Georgiann's departure leaves a profound legacy, including a son, Brian (Kathy) Johnson; two daughters, Karla (Jim) McKinney and Karen (Rick) Foster; four cherished grandchildren, Greg (Hannah) McKinney, Sarah McKinney, Tim (Calyssa) Foster, and Rachel (Patrick) Foster Skrodzki; and seven great-grandchildren, Finn, Beck, and Tate McKinney, Liam, Genevieve, and Penelope Foster, and Henryk Skrodzki.
She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends. Georgiann is preceded in death by her parents, George Wilson and Edna King; her loving husband, Gilbert E. Johnson (who died March 5, 2016); her brother, Lawrence King; and her sister, Kay Henley.
A visitation to celebrate her life will be held on August 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM until noon at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, located at 1461 Sparta Hwy, Crossville, TN. Pastor John Beabout will officiate.
In remembering Georgiann, we honor her unwavering spirit, love for family, and dedication to her faith, which will continue to inspire all who knew her.
