COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Gerald Solomon, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 15, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born on May 11, 1942, in Douglas, GA, and lived a life full of purpose and devotion.

Gerald enjoyed a distinguished career as an engineer and physicist, dedicating over 40 years of his professional life to General Dynamics. His profound knowledge and expertise were matched only by his gentle spirit and caring nature. He was known to his family and friends as a "Big Teddy Bear," and those who were fortunate enough to know him will long remember his good sense of humor and unwavering faith.

A devoted family man, Gerald served his loved ones in a Christ-like manner, actively supporting them through prayer and love. He held deep commitment to his family, which was evident in the meaningful relationships he cultivated throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Solomon; his son, Barry Solomon (Cynthia); his daughter, Carie-Michelle Hahnert (Matthew); his step-children, Angel Olin (Russ) and David Waddell (Jessica); and his treasured grandchildren, Ashleigh, Rebecca, and Elizabeth Hahnert, Jesse Olin, Brady, and Jeremy Whisenhunt.

Gerald's faith was an essential part of his being. He was a devoted member of Destiny Worship Center in Destin, FL, during his time in Florida, and later embraced the community of Life Church in Cookeville, TN. His unwavering faith not only guided his own life but also illuminated the lives of those around him.

He now joins his dear parents, George and Inez Harper Solomon; his first wife, Dr. Martha J. Solomon; and his sister, Wynel Cliett, who have all preceded him in death.

A funeral service honoring Gerald will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday May 18 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Sotis officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be from 1 - 3 p.m. Gerald will be laid to rest at Cookeville City Cemetery.

Gerald Solomon’s legacy of love, humor, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
