Funeral Services for Gilbert (Gib) Dyer Kinnaird, 88, of Cookeville, will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, October 29 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Dyer officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 – 8pm and again Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Kinnaird died Sunday afternoon October 26, 2014, at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation. He was born November 9, 1925, in Putnam County, TN to the late John Quince and Mary Viola Davis Kinnaird. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Kinnaird; and sister, Mary Alice DuBell. Mr. Kinnaird was a US Navy veteran of WW II. He was a member of Summerfield United Methodist Church. Mr. Kinnaird owned and operated a business specializing in painting, paper hanging, and dry wall finishing. He was also a recreational pilot and tractor enthusiast. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Olga Langford Kinnaird (whom he married June 15, 1946 in Cookeville); two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jerry McKenzie of Knoxville, Margie and Jimmy Crabtree of Cookeville; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Anne Kinnaird of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Matt McKenzie, Whitney Brockman (husband Adam), Will Crabtree, and Ben Crabtree; three great-grandchildren, Conner McKenzie, Andrew and Emily Brockman. Pallbearers will be Jerry and Matt McKenzie, Jimmy, Will, and Ben Crabtree, and Adam Brockman. Memorial contributions may be made to Summerfield United Methodist Church, 625 East 20th Street, Cookeville, TN 38501.
