Harold Howell

Funeral services for Mr. Harold Gene Howell, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held Monday, March 20, 2023 at 1:00pm at Stevens Street Baptist Church. Pastors Scott Parkison and Andy Hammond will officiate. Interment will follow in Algood City Cemetery.

His family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Monday from 12pm until service time at the church.

Mr. Howell died Wednesday March 15, 2023 at his residence.

He was born June 20, 1941 in Cookeville, TN to the late Shelia Clarence and Ethel Christine Howell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sue Langford; and by brothers, Bobby Howell, Donald Howell and Don Troupe.

Harold was a talented woodworker who specialized in cabinetry, furniture, and making fiddles. In addition, he also played multiple instruments including guitar, banjo, and fiddle. He enjoyed singing in the choir at Stevens Street Baptist Church, where he has been a member for many years. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and for his faith in Christ by his many friends and church family.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Norris Howell; daughter, Regina and husband Kenny Johnson; son Cliff and wife Amy Howell; all of Cookeville; and by grandchildren, Nikki (Martin) Rich, Dustin Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Gavin Howell and Alex Howell.

Nikki Rich, Marty Rich, Dustin Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Gavin Howell, Alex Howell, William Norris, David Norris and Curtis Norris will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to The Care Center at Stevens Street Baptist Church, 327 W. Stevens Street, Cookeville, TN 38501.
