BAXTER CHAPEL-Harold Ernest Shores, a cherished member of the Silver Point community and a devoted family man, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Signature of Putnam County. Born on May 27, 1938, in Putnam County, Tennessee, Harold lived a life marked by dedication, faith, and a vibrant spirit that touched the lives of many.

Harold was self-employed, operating H&T Trucking Co. in Silver Point, where his hard work and commitment left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his professional endeavors, Harold’s passions were as varied as they were enriching. He found great joy in the outdoors, embracing hobbies such as horseback riding, volleyball, swimming, water skiing, camping, and farming on the side. These interests spoke to his love of nature and active lifestyle, which were integral parts of his identity.

A member of Herrens Chapel Church of Christ, Harold’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him with strength and solace throughout his years. His involvement in the church community reflected his values of compassion, service, and fellowship.

Harold’s family was the heart of his world. He is survived by his loving son, Terry Shores and special friend, Carol Spurr, and daughter, Elizabeth (Tim) McConnell, both of Silver Point, Tennessee. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Joshua (Becca) Brown of St. Mary's, Georgia; Jeremy (Kristin) Brown of Cookeville; Austin (Becca) Spurr of Silver Point; and Cheyenne (Walter) Borens of Dover, Tennessee. The family circle further expands with his dear great-grandchildren, Sterling Spurr, Jonah Brown, Jaxson Brown, Brayden Brown, Peyton Brown, Emery Borens, Ella Borens, Danni Brown, Hope Brown, Vera Borens (expected late May), and Willow Spurr (expected late July). Harold also shared a special bond with his close friend, Connie Banker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Udell Shores and Etmo Dean Maxwell Shores; his wife, Lassie Ann Herren Shores, who passed away on March 28, 2013; his sister, Dorothy "Dot" Herren; brothers, Loyd Shores and Wayne Shores; and his great-grandson, Charlie Don Spurr.

Visitation will be held at Baxter Chapel, located at 532 4th Street, Baxter, Tennessee, 38544, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Phil Loftis and Bro. Jonathan Loftis officiating. Interment will follow in Smellage Memory Gardens.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Joshua Brown, Jeremy Brown, Austin Spurr, Sterling Spurr, David Shores and Joey Herren. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Herren, Jimmy Wayne Shores and Ron Whitefield.

Harold Ernest Shores’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and community spirit. He leaves behind a profound legacy through his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him. His memory will be cherished and honored by all whose lives he enriched.
