BAXTER CHAPEL-Helen Jean Hancock Jackson, beloved homemaker and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Grandview Post Acute in Cookeville, Tennessee. Born on March 9, 1930, in Buffalo Valley, Tennessee, Helen dedicated her life to nurturing her family and cultivating the warmth of her home.

Throughout her years, Helen found joy and fulfillment in tending to her flower beds, a passion that reflected her gentle spirit and love for nature’s quiet beauty. She was also deeply devoted to family gatherings, treasuring the moments spent with loved ones, where laughter and togetherness were abundant.

Helen’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Patty Kelley (Bruce Dailey) and Patricia Ann Hunter, both of Cookeville, Tennessee. Her brothers, Arthur Hancock, of Silver Point, Tennessee and Harvey (Linda) Hancock Blackshear, GA also survives her, along with a large and loving extended family comprising nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Bessie Beatrice Rittenberry Hancock; her husband, Jim Jackson, who passed on April 3, 1991; daughters Emma Joyce Rodgers and Barbara Bowman; sisters Bobbie Knight, Willie Joyce Gamble and Mildred Hall; and brothers Jesse, Willard, Lillard, and John F. Hancock. Helen also mourned the loss of her sons-in-law, Paul Hunter and Don Rodgers; grandson, Mark Sutton; and granddaughter, Norma Davis.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Helen’s life during the visitation held at Baxter Chapel, located at 532 4th Street, Baxter, Tennessee, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A graveside service and interment will follow at Smellage Memory Gardens, 10825 Hopewell Road, Silver Point, Tennessee, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Jeremiah Sells will officiate.

Helen Jean Jackson’s generous heart, her dedication as a homemaker, and her joy in family gatherings will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to blossom in the hearts of her descendants and friends. Her life was a testament to the enduring strength and grace of a woman devoted to home and family.
