Funeral Services for Herman Whiteaker, 94 of Cookeville will be Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 11 A.M. from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with burial in Dry Valley Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Larry Whiteaker will officiate. Mr. Whiteaker died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was born July 29, 1917 in Putnam County to the late Mack and Arrie (Whiteaker) Whiteaker. He was a retired mechanic with Cream City Ice Cream Company. Since his retirement he worked on and repaired lawn mowers, tillers, chainsaws anything with a "Briggs & Stratton motor"�. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife of 71 years, Eva Lee Sparks Whiteaker on July 8, 2011. Survivors include 2 sons & daughters-in-law Larry & Lisa Whiteaker, Lewis & Irene Whiteaker all of Cookeville, sister Leatha Daniels of Charleston, S.C., 2 brothers Lawrence Whiteaker of Algood and Gordon Whiteaker of Dayton, Ohio, 2 grandsons Nathan & Daniel Whiteaker, granddaughter & husband Terry & Lark Moore of Sparta, great-grandaughter & husband Alisha & Ray Brown of White County. Family & friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial Contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, P.O.Box 10088, Knoxville, Tn. 37939. Family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 P.M. and after 10 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
