COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Mr. Garvin Abe Posey, affectionately known as "Hoppy," passed away September 27, 2024 in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was born on July 5, 1941, in Fort Payne, Alabama.
A proud veteran, a Sgt. of the Vietnam War, Garvin served in the United States Army. His service to his country was a significant part of his life, shaping his strong sense of duty and integrity.
His career spanned 42 years in the meat cutting industry, where he was well-respected for his skills and work ethic. His commitment to excellence was evident in everything he did.
Garvin was known for his big personality, which left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His laughter and spirit drew many into his circle, enriching the lives of his family and friends. He was an avid golfer. He cherished the camaraderie and joy that the game brought him. Family vacations at the beach were also among his treasured moments, sharing love and laughter with those closest to him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Cloma Turner Posey; sons, Loren Berry, Jeffery Berry, and Adam Posey; brother, Wayne Posey; brother-in-laws, Timothy Turner and Sheldon Turner; and sister-in-laws, Loma Vincent and Mona Zachary; Grandchildren: Holly Vaughn, Kari Berry, Sarah Berry, Joshua Berry, Kylie Berry and Brad White; along with great grandchildren: Jordan Berry, Jaydan Vaughn, and Psalms Hinsen.
Garvin was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Lester Posey and Bessie Buchanan Posey; by his sisters, Peggy Hampton and Edna Pettite; by his brother, Roy Posey; and by his daughter Dana White.
