Hugh Adams

Funeral service for Mr. Hugh Taylor Adams, age 79, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 24, 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Adams passed away Saturday morning September 21, 2019 at his home. He was born November 20, 1939, in Cookeville, TN to the late Paskell and Cora Adams. Mr. Adams was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. He worked at Pepsi Cola for 30+ years. Afterwards, he worked at Heritage Ford for 12 years. In 2008, he opened Adams Auto Sales in Algood. He loved people and enjoyed being in sales. Golf, gardening, and fishing were some of his favorite pastimes. He was a devoted husband to his wife Kathy, especially during her extended illness. He served the City of Algood in the capacity of councilman and vice-mayor. He is survived by his children Teresa Adams, Tony (Heather) Adams, Tami (Mickey) Ryan, Tina Bilbrey Phillips, Kirby (Tricia) Patrick, Cindy (Raoul) Russell, Ginny (Bryan) Henson, and Lisa Mabrey; sister, Peggy Fragopoulos; sister-in-law, Margaret Smith; brother-in-law, Al (Sandra) Witt; grandchildren, Andy Adams, Autumn Kinnaird, Karmann Shepherd, Adia Adams, Justin, Austin, and Tamika Ryan, Reese and Tiana Bilbrey, David Stine, Zach (Sarah) Henson, Emily Hunt and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Euneta Kirby and Harriett Rowland. Pallbearers will be Tony Adams, Bryan and Zach Henson, Mickey and Austin Ryan, and Zach Withers.
