Funeral services for Mr. Jack Warner Norton, age 83, of Madison, Al and formerly of Cookeville, will be held Sunday December 23 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with Roy Patterson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Jack died Thursday December 20, 2018 in the Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Madison. Jack was born Friday August 9, 1935 in Jackson County, TN to the late Oliver Cecil and Ferol Cameron Rogers Norton. He founded and operated the Norton Company until his retirement. Jack was a believer in Jesus Christ who attended Willow Avenue Church of Christ and, after moving to Madison, attended Skyline Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran. His son Jim says “anybody who knows me knows about my Dad - how important he was and how much he meant to me. He was one of a kind, giving love, wisdom, kindness and encouragement to a son. He was rivaled by none - the greatest dad ever.” In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 52 years, Johnnie Ruth Stephens Norton; sister, Pollye Greene; and two brothers, Richard C. and Douglas T. Norton. Survivors include children; Jim (Paige) Norton of Madison, Al, Bobby (Diane) Winningham of Cookeville, and Sharon (Dr. William) Laing of Knoxville; grandchildren, Monty, Mack, and Scarlett Norton, Kristy Clemmons, Beau, Bubba, and Levi Winningham, several great-grandchildren; sister Pattie Joe Foster; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Jones Winningham. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of donations, Jack’s family request flowers to show support for local florists. The family wants to thank the staff of Valley View Health and Rehabilitation in Madison Alabama for going above and beyond the care and concern needed to make Jack's stay a pleasant and enjoyable one.
