Jack Alan Rice

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Jackie Alan Rice, born on December 2, 1958, in Cookeville, TN. He passed away at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Monday September 1, 2025, at the age of 66. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandpa, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. Jack was one of the "good guys". He was kind and always willing to help anyone. His infectious smile will always be remembered.

Jack graduated from Cookeville High School in 1975 and went on to pursue a career as a mechanist. He worked many years with George A. Mitchell, Mfg. in Cookeville until 2014 when he went to work at JetFab where he made many new friends and truly enjoyed going to work every day.

Jack formed many friendships over the years at work and with hobbies such as flying radio controlled airplanes and those made at the dirtbike tracks around Tennessee and beyond where he was a mechanic and motorcycle washer when his son, Tyler raced. He mostly loved cheering on all the riders. He was there at the fair when Chad and Tyler both raced on motorcycle and ATV race night, ready to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Myra Gail (Thrasher) Rice; his sons, Chadwick Rice and Tyler (Rachel) Rice; grandsons, Gavin and Cannan Rice; granddaughter, Maren Rice; brother, Lonnie (Lisa) Rice; sister, Beverly (Ted) Mitchell; nieces, Leanne (Brandon) Nabors, Kelly (Jimmy) Mulholland, and Lauren Rice; nephew, Adam (Heather) West; sister-in-law, Cindy West; along with a host of great nieces and great nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, AJ and Jean Rice; paternal grandparents, Herman and Lelia (Williams) Rice; maternal grandparents, Joe and Myrtle (Tollison) Sliger; nephews, Landon Rice and Travis West; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Mattie Lee (Boles) Burgess; and a host of aunts and uncles.

A Graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Allison Cemetery on Window Cliff Rd in Baxter. All family, friends, and co-workers are invited to attend.
