DYER CHAPEL-James Bobby Henley, Sr., age 73, a beloved figure born on February 20, 1953, in Daytona Beach, Florida, departed this life on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Highpoint Health-Riverview Medical Center in Carthage, Tennessee. He was a dedicated family man, an industrious worker, and an avid outdoorsman whose zest for life resonated with all who knew him.
James, affectionately known as Bobby, dedicated 34 years of his working life to vinyl siding with best friend, Tim Riddle before further contributing to the community through his work at Food Lion. His strong work ethic was matched by his commitment to his family, and he took immense pride in being the oldest sibling.
His interests were as varied as they were passionate. Bobby enjoyed the thrill of hunting and fishing, embracing the great outdoors whenever possible. A fan of NASCAR racing, he often found camaraderie in cheering for his favorite drivers. In quieter moments, he delighted in watching old westerns and police crime shows, always ready to relive the tales that shaped the genre. Volleyball was another passion, one that brought him joy and exercise.
Bobby is survived by his loving son, James Bobby (Brandi) Henley, Jr. of Cookeville; his daughters, Patricia (Jason) DuPont of Aiea, Hawaii, and Ashley (Chad) Argo of Gainesboro, Tennessee; his brother, Danny Henley of Cookeville; and his sisters, Sandra Hall of Florida and Marsha (Rick) Hyer of North Carolina. He was a proud grandfather to Shari (Lucas) Lynn, Eli Argo, Chevy Henley, Lily Doronila, Katie Argo, Noah Henley, and Liam DuPont. He was also a doting great-grandfather to River Lynn.
He grieved the loss of his parents, Paschal Dyer Henley and Nina Ladell McCaleb Henley, as well as his brother, Terry Henley. Despite these losses, Bobby identified with the Baptist faith.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 3 pm at Faith Chapel Ministries, 8250 Nashville Hwy, Baxter, TN 38544. Bro. Chad Argo will officiate. Visitation will follow the service with a luncheon.
James Bobby Henley, Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love and hard work.
